Winchester Crossing by D.R. Horton

I closed on my D.R. Horton home in Princeton, Texas, in March 2025. Within seven months, exterior stone is falling off the walls in chunks, I can’t unlock my front door because the lock is constantly jamming, and many more similar issues. The irrigation shut-off valve is nowhere to be found. A D.R. Horton technician inspected the yard, could not locate the valve, and explicitly instructed me to submit a warranty request. The warranty team denied the claim, told me to contact the irrigation subcontractor myself, classifying an irrigation system as “landscaping” and deflecting responsibility. The company advertises a one-year limited warranty but restricts service to only three scheduled intervals (2-, 6-, and 11-month). Don’t worry if you think they’ll only cut corners on your home and its structural retaining walls. They’ll cut corners on the development of your neighborhood as well! You’ll have the privilege of living in a dump in less than 10 years. Think the city will hold them accountable? Think again. Great job, Damon! Outstanding work. Edit: Their response ignored my own home’s structural retaining wall. Don’t worry. I talked to the City Manager, Mayor and the Director of Development Services some weeks ago. Surprise. No one can find the engineered retaining wall plans that should’ve been submitted by D.R. Horton’s subcontractor for my wall as required by code. Don’t buy a home here. Negligence all over the place.
