I’ve visited The summit apartments several times over the past month for information and the office is always closed during operation hours. I got lucky one day they were open and I witnessed a lady name April conversation with a current resident (assistant property manager) her energy was very unprofessional. I proceeded to wait trying not to pass judgement as I did not know the situation with the tenant but when I spoke with her I received the same unprofessional condescending attitude so I assumed this is her disposition with everyone. Fast forward I witnessed her interact with another staff member maybe the maintenance guy (Caucasian) and that’s when I noticed the patterned literally within a matter of 20 mins she is uncomfortable with engaging with people of color! I hate this place. Rent is cheap, but the crime rate is ridiculous in this area; the police have to do patrols at night on the weekends because of recent criminal activity. You cannot even feel safe in your own home or let your kids run freely outside without worrying that you or them will become the next shooting victim. We are only here because finding a better apartment in Virginia is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Honestly, it’s sad to see a largely black community struggle with violence; we shouldn’t hear anything about kids dying from adult actions. No parking permits nor gates, so pretty much anyone can come in and out of the apartments. I have trouble finding parking in front of my own apartment because the neighbors or anyone else has company over ( or if a random pe

Came in to speak with property manager Ashley. Very sweet lady with a nice smile, something you don’t get often in customer service and very informative. Even helped me look up other places since I am over income. Office is really nice inside, well kept up.

We stayed here when it first opened up, we were the first to live in our apartment. They were very nice, towards the end they started letting anybody in, of course you don't know what kind of people you're letting in until they have already signed the lease. I don't blame them sending out a lot of notes. Kids were out late at 12-1 am with their hoodrat parents not caring about their kids 5 years old were out that late, letting the kids ring on people's doorbells and running, kids talking back to adults. Once again this isn't the apartment complex fault. When we we're there the apartment managers were super nice. They had to put in speed bumps, right when we left. People would ride by at night in the complex like it was the Virginia Beach strip or something speeding. I noticed they use to b

The place and condition is okay but the property manager and landlord, JEAN MARTIN, is ugly and pure evil. Constantly threatening tenants and putting letters in people's doors for every single thing, even if you're a quiet cooperative tenant and stay out of the way. This is not the way to treat a client! As long as she's employed there, take my advice and do not move to the Summit apartments! You-'ll be continually harassed by her for as long as you live there. She can pick on tenants for little stuff, but won't address the need for heavier security when it comes to thugs shooting up your apartment.
