Mallard Creek

Mallard Creek was one of many communities I looked at while moving in from out of state and was one of the very few that actually answered the phone or would call me back if I left a message. (Huge shout out to Pat!) One of the huge selling points for me signing here was the fact that parking was included AND a heated garage; normally you would have to pay an additional $100 or more for a covered garage. Absolutely perfect for Minnesota winters. Their maintenance team is quick to respond and address work orders. Another shout out to Paul for taking care of my dryer within a timely manner!

I lived at Mallard Creek from May 2020 to October 2024 and had a great experience. The apartments and common areas are kept clean and updated. Neighbors are quiet and friendly. There is a locked package room—often times carriers don’t do a great job at putting the packages in the package room, but I have never had anyone take my stuff (and I buy a LOT of stuff). The heated, underground parking is really safe and convenient. Also abundant lot parking. Management is ok—I didn’t reach out to them often, but whenever I attempted to I rarely ever got a hold of anyone the first try. Maintenance is great; they’re quick and efficient and typically requests get done within a few days. During winter time, they do a great job at getting the lot and sidewalks plowed. I lived at Mallard Creek for just shy of two years. The unit was of good quality generally, and the carpet had been replaced just before I moved in. The room was fairly spacious, and in the time I lived there I noticed absolutely no noise issues from neighbors to the side or on other floors. The unit (one of the two bedroom floor plans) had been advertised as being air conditioned, but only one of the two bedrooms had an AC unit. Management told us that we simply needed to leave the bedroom door open to cool the master suite. However, there's absolutely no airflow in the unit, and the common living area AC unit was so old and decrepit that it was barely able to cool the living room even when the compressor was running non-stop. I lived at Mallard Creek for 2 years and throughout those 2 years we had several issues. Immediately when we moved in we had issues with our AC and asked to have maintenance out and at the first visit they did not believe the issues we had. After capturing the awful sound it made on video I was able to show maintenance and they discovered that the unit was bad and needed to be replaced. They did complete remodels on the common areas which have helped the appearance. This entire building complex is awful in the winter. The sidewalks weren’t shoveled for days at a time which causes several inches of ice to form throughout the entire winter and made it dangerous to walk on. I have just passed my first year living at the Mallard Creek apartments. I have found the entire staff to be very warm and receptive to my settling in needs and requests. The manager, office staff, the facilities maintenance man, the landscape crew all have an attitude of making the residents feel appreciated. I enjoy the nearby shopping, restaurants and the extensive bike trail behind the complex. The proximity to downtown is also a huge asset. I feel quite comfortable and grateful to have found the Mallard Creek community.
