Decatur Flats Apartments

If you like cops all around the complex, violent fights outside your window, loud neighbors, and maintenance who won't fix anything, this place is for you! They don't care about these apartments and that's very clear. Someone was stabbed and murdered in February of 2025, I would see lights from police cars outside my bedroom window at least once a month. Don't live here. Why would anyone want to come to live here. I had asked for repairs the moment I moved in and they still weren't fixed until the moment I moved out. They didn't clean the carpets by the time I moved in either and I happened to have the pleasure of stepping on a thumb tack. If you have a family and care about them, don't come here. If you care about yourself, don't come here

Door was kicked in while I wasn’t there almost immediately after signing lease. Management was aware of it and did not tell me anything, no police report or anything. They instead replaced the door without telling me, thinking I would not notice and proceeded to ignore me. The people in these buildings belong in a jungle. I would recommend a homeless shelter or living in your car before ever living there, don’t believe the reviews because they’re outdated and clearly the bad reviews are all being filtered/hidden. Possibly the most ran down place in central Illinois. Roach/bed bug infested, squalor conditions.

Giving this review a 2-star based on the most recent owner. Living at this property the management switched from 4 different owners in 4 years so that speaks for itself. It was a decent experience and now I believe it's more section 8 based on the treatment at the end of my tenure. I had a few maintenance issues arise, timely yet inadequate on the follow through. Heat during the winter wasn't working in my flat so I checked with other tenants to see if they had heat, mine was the only one not working. Management blamed me for not knowing how a thermostat works and I had to run my oven to stay warm for 4 days. Sent a heating/hvac contractor out a few times during the 4 days and never remedied the problem, even Kathleen came out on day 4. I brought my temperature gun out to prove it was 50 d

My time here at Huntley ridge was great and kid friendly. Kathleen the property manager definitely got things handled in a timely fashion and very understanding when you communicate with her. I’d recommend living here to anyone!!

Kathleen is exceptional ! Loved working with her throughout the entire process and can’t wait to move in . She went above and beyond to help and I am so grateful for her ! Great property manager !
