Poplar Place

Poplar place In June of 2022 we needed to find a new place to live. After looking at numerous apartments we found Poplar Place Apartments. We went up to see if we could view the apartments before applying or signing a lease. It took 30 minutes for someone to come to the door when it said they were open. We were then told that we couldn’t tour an apartment because we didn’t have an appointment. We had viewed other places that day with no appointment. It was our mistake for signing the lease… - Fast forward to July 2022 when we moved in. The carpets were gross, the appliances were dirty and from the 80s. The walls weren’t painted etc. our stove/oven was broken and it took 3 months to get a new one. - The floors were sinking. (We were on the third floor) there were slopes and holes and they

Just moved out after a year of living here (to be closer to Durham). Property management was always helpful and very accommodating. Not sure what current rates are but our unrenovated unit felt like a great deal. Complex also has good amenities in a nice area.

I received a voicemail following up on a service request I had submitted for a roof leak. The woman named Laticia that I have never met before asked if the leak had been fixed and also wanted to know if there were any repairs to my ceiling that were needed. In all the years I have lived at Poplar Place no one has ever followed up on a service request. I just wanted to say thanks. I appreciate that someone is concerned enough to reach out. This was a new experience. 5 star service.

We've been living here since November 2022, and it's been a great experience. We live on the first floor, and initially, we were disappointed with how noisy the upstairs neighbors were. However, when they moved out and new tenants moved in, we realized the noise was due to the previous occupants, not the building itself. Now, we hardly hear any noise at all. It's a quiet, safe neighborhood, which we really appreciate. The maintenance team is excellent—very responsive, quick, friendly, and efficient. The apartment also has lots of windows, which we love. Overall, we’re very pleased and would definitely recommend this place.

My friend and I visited about a month ago, around 4:30 PM, so a tour was nearly impossible. However, we met a staff member who gave us her business card and told us to call back. After several unreturned calls, we went back on Monday, May 12, 2025, and, surprisingly, the same staff member was disrespectful and condescending. Please do not give out your business cards if you have no intention of responding or engaging. And when customers do show up, treat them with basic respect — they took time off work to seek your service, and that effort deserves attention.
