Village Green Apartments

Been here for 5 years. No attempt to fix damaged siding and windows. No where to grill. No where for kids to play. No shelter for school bus pick up area for kids. No shelter for mailboxes, very little, minimal snow removal (no consideration for the elderly). Tons of vehicle break ins and not one security camera. It’s 2025, who doesn’t have them for legal and protection purposes? Spent money power washing the buildings. That’s was a complete waste of money. It still looks the same, worn and in need of desperate repair. Rent goes up every year but no real justification for that. You can say price increases but that has minimal effect overall. Mortgage is a fixed rate so that hasn’t changed. Just disappointing to see so much money being taken in a nothing given back.

Where do I begin? At first, Cathy and everyone else at Village Green treated me well. I lived there for 2 years and was always early to pay my rent. Unfortunately, due to a family hardship, my fiancée, our son, and I had to move out early. We paid the months we owed, plus a large $2,600 fee to close the lease. Before leaving, we made sure everything was shut off — A/C, water, power — and did our part to leave things right. After making the final payment, we even drove all the way back from Chicago to Angola just to personally drop off the keys. When we arrived, we were surprised to find that Cathy’s cleaning crew had already been in the apartment while we technically still had rights to it. The lights were on and the A/C was blasting. One of the staff members in the leasing office was extremely rude and unwelcoming. The appliances are old, and the apartment complex does not have a laundry facility. Rent is lower compared to other places in Angola.

Apartment 310 molds around the windows (including the sliding door) and on the bathroom ceiling, all of the windows and doors have gaps that light, wind, rain, and ice get through. I was charged a nonrefundable deposit and was told at move out it doesn't cover any damages or unpaid rent or utilities. That prompted me to do research and per Indiana Code 32-31-3-12 all deposits must be refunded or used to pay unpaid rent, utilities or damages. I was told I signed a waiver but Indiana Code 32-31-3-17 states "a waiver of this chapter by a landlord or tenant is void." I'm also being charged to replace all carpet. I have a voicemail stating the apartment had a very distinct dog pee smell, so they ripped up the carpet and found 3 stains. One was by the front door and very clearly had salt rings f

Squirrels keep getting into the apartment roofs, for months and months without it being resolved. Noise all the time because of these rodents.
