The Retreat at Baywood

One of the worst apartment experiences I’ve ever had. I can’t see adding “The Retreat” to the name changing the way they do business. It’s been 18 years and I’m still not over it. Hopefully Darryl the maintenance guy and his sidekick aren’t still getting away with running the units into the ground. Makes me wonder if they ever fixed the issue with sewer pump that was shared with the gated complex to North. (Ultimately that’s where we moved to due to the frequent sewage back ups) That pump would fail and flood my unit with sewage often. It would fill the bathtub and overflow, specifically 1409 and the other lower units in that bldg. They never offered us anything but a hard time and threats.

To Whom It May Concern, I was a resident of these apartments for one year. During this time, I have repeatedly experienced substandard living conditions and poor management practices, which raise serious concerns about compliance with landlord obligations under applicable housing laws. For the rent being charged, residents could reasonably expect functional amenities and timely maintenance. However: No on-site amenities such as a pool or gym are provided. Maintenance requests take an unreasonably long time to be addressed, sometimes leaving necessary repairs unresolved for extended periods. The apartments are outdated and not adequately maintained. Management has repeatedly failed to respond promptly and professionally to resident concerns. Under state and local landlord–tenant laws

Security or video surveillance needs to be put in place. This place has become a dump, the cabinets, ceilings, floors, tubs, sinks, etc are falling apart. I could go on and on. They are infested. And now we have tire slashers and thieves. One ladies car was left on the ground because the stole the whole exterior. So dark throughout the apartments. Maintenance diy and half does everything. It’s honestly unsafe. Moldy and you hear gunshots at least 1-2 times a week. For the price, needs aren’t being met. And don’t be late on the rent more than 5 days, your things will be right outside at the dumpster.

Lived here for 2 weeks, when we first moved in we were shown one apartment and was it was switched, ( Switch & Bait) 2day hot water heater started leaking, reported it, asked it they had 🪳 roaches they stated no. I saw the first roach within 3 days complained to management, she told us “be mindful we have neighbors”…….WHAT??? They recently changed management, they seem to be headed in the right direction, but these apartments need to be closed for a while, gutted, upgraded, including windows, bathroom tubs and they need to be painted (including the ceiling) Bombed for bugs, and sprayed regularly. It can be done but it’s gonna take time and money! The filter looks like it wasn’t ever changed, when you cut in the air it smells of mildew from all the black mold growing in the bathroom closet

I’ve lived here for one year and haven’t had any issues. Any maintenance concerns that I have, have been resolved immediately without any issues. My neighbors in my building are really nice. The property staff has also been friendly and professional.
