Schumacher Homes of Columbia, SC

Schumacher homes is a gem. Even if you don't choose them as your home builder their model homes gives you lots of ideas. They are very friendly..knowledgeable and professional and will answer all of your questions. Their model homes are top notch and floor plans have me basically convinced!

My house was built in 2015. My parents (2016), in-laws (2020), and brother (2023) built homes with them as well. They’re average builders with their pros and cons. Cons: They need better quality control over their subcontractors workmanship. They don’t follow through with referral bonuses. They don’t exactly follow the house plans during construction. I’ve seen their quality decline over time. Pros: Didn’t experience any schedule delays. They did some free upgrades during construction. They generally do what they say they’re going to do.

My husband and I worked with "Jody Shealy," a New Home Consultant at Schumacher Homes and we were both extremely pleased with his level of knowledge, professionalism, and patience with us as we started our custom home build journey. He was prompt in all of his communications and helped give us piece of mind every step of the way. We are super early in the home building process but thus far, we highly recommend Schumacher Homes!

February update: changing my review as we have several issues that are not being addressed. Took over a month to get electrician out to fix our breakers. Now our front window is falling out and no one will contact us back. Getting an attorney involved for the one year mark. Super disappointed in the amount of money we spent and company doesn't seem to care. Jody has been phenomenal with handling our build. He knows we are new to this and explains everything twice! Updated after build- I can not say enough good things about our builder, Arnold. Our house is better than we ever imagined. He communicated well through the whole process and was there to answer all of our questions and concerns. He showed us a lot of patience and guided us through. 5 stars to Arnold.
