Schaffer Heights

Shaffer Heights calls itself a "thriving" community. Not so. Many of the tenants are sick and have round-the-clock aides who care for them, as in a nursing home. My apartment is cozy and has good views. Many of the people I've met here are wonderful. The site says they offer interesting programs. The effort put into programming is minimal. For example, on National Donut Day they give out donuts. Many of the "programs" involve giving out sweets and nothing more. I don't feel there is any effort to create community or make the tenants aware of opportunities in the outside area and there are plenty. The owners and director come across as cold and disinterested in the well-being of tenants, because they are. The management style is negatively parental, instead of open. To avoid being frustrate

The apartment manager that wrote there is no existing bug problem is an absolute liar. My father-in-law lived there and there is a massive roach and bed bug issue. The apartment managers are completely unresponsive.

Holes in walls in common areas. Bug issues continue on and on. People living with residents with a kid for over 2 years. Maintenance man daily walks past trash that needs to be cleaned but doesn’t. Immature staffing. Windows were painted months ago but never re-caulked which causes cold wind into most apartments throughout winter months. Washer/Dryer units not repaired or replaced in a timely manor. One disabled parking spot that you do not have to pay $30.00 a month for in a complex for seniors. Shocking and not ADA.

What happened to the place? It's no longer senior living. It's open to all. When I visit t's dirty elevators , no security, no nice people, lots of dogs. The web site makes it look lovely( not so). The hallways reek with cigerette and weed smell. Think about visiting before you sign up.

This is the WORST experience that I have had living in an apartment. I'm 83 and the place is not a good place to live and I am moving out. They raise the rent but do NOTHING to improve the environment except paint the outside of the building, then they raised the rent so we can pay for it. It is disturbing to say the least with BUGS to boot.
