Preserve at Autumn Ridge Townhomes

My husband and I were very excited to move into this place in November of 2024. We had previously spent a year at Ontario Village Apartments, and anyone could easily tell what an upgrade that was. He was in the military and I had a full-time job, so we felt comfortable with our finances, enough to choose housing that was a little more pricey. We tried to be good prospective renters by doing a tour and asking necessary questions and all that. We knew there were some mandatory fees in addition to the monthly rent, and so we had a rough idea about the monthly price. It was so much nicer than our previous apartment, and we were both just excited to live somewhere nicer, that we may have rushed into it a little. This place needs to be investigated. Management at The Preserve at Autumn Ridge in Watertown, NY is actively engaging in illegal and unethical practices, including discrimination, retaliation, price gouging, and issuing lease non-renewals without cause or explanation. They do not give legal reasons for their decisions and when asked for one, they simply state, "We don’t have to tell you." I received a non-renewal notice taped to my door with no explanation, no signature, and no attempt to communicate. I have no violations, have never been late on rent, and have maintained the apartment. They’re targeting tenants, especially single moms, people with disabilities, and military families, and pushing them out during the hardest time of year to find housing. I would NOT recommend ! Everything is automated that means nobody ever reaches back out to you , no matter how many voice mails or emails you send. I filled out the application and as soon as I paid $16 for the application to be processed and once approved $500 was withdrawn from my account right away. Then, I received a text message stating that I have 72hr to sign my lease agreement which I NEVER received . I have been trying to get in touch with them for 3 days in the row via phone and email and an automated response is populated but nobody ever responds. This is unprofessional and unacceptable. This complex has been a disappointment. Our complex is adequate. It is obvious some cheaper materials were used but it fits our needs. However the upkeep of outside facilities has been atrocious. Our biggest issue has been snow removal which has been virtually non-existent. Yesterday was the first decent snow of the season. It began in the middle of the night and continued until around 12-1 in the afternoon. At 6 when I got home the roads had still not been cleared. All morning there were plow trucks driving around with their plows up not doing any work. I understand they may wait until the snow stops however that doesn't seem to be the case either. When Aby is asked about it, she states the lease says they only plow when there is >4 inches of snow. The lease adds that about them plowing

Honestly, from the outside looking in, it seems amazing. If you are military and only here for a short period of time, it will be perfect for you. If you are not in a pinch and have time to look around, I'd strongly suggest doing so. Many want to leave here after more than a year. Cons: Price is way too high for what you receive Internet is not strong enough for the average family's usage Business center never has toner to print (even after asking many times) Pool is constantly closed Some pool lifeguards are rude Older residents are unfriendly about kids behaving like kids (even when other neighbors enjoy seeing them have fun) Lawn care is horrible Snow removal is also horrible The windows are likely the cheapest they could have purchased There is little to no yard The "trail"
