Deer Wood

Place has gotten the “landlord special” more times than I can count. Plumbing is absolutely awful and toilets get backed up all the time. You’ll have to call them 3-4 times about an issue before they resolve it. Roaches also like to crawl through the drains. We killed 5 wood roaches in a single day in a 750sq foot apartment. The property manager is incredibly rude and the staff makes little effort to actually fix the numerous issues that arise in the run down apartments. You might get one with fresh linoleum though so that’s nice, right? Here’s to 50 more years of “landlord specials” and terrible living conditions at Deer Wood Apartments!

I had the worst move-out experience. I received a call from collections for the accelerated rent. I contacted the main office and was told I didn't pay the $1500.. I went into the portal on 2 June 2024 and paid the 799.07 due - Which is over the rent amount (I didn't owe rent for June). I called and couldn't get a hold of anyone. I left a message and didn't hear anything back. I live two hours away. When I was able to get someone in the office, they said it was what I owed, which was $3995.11. I asked about the credits and was told they don't count towards the $1500. I was finally sent a final bill that did not reflect the $799.07 paid on 2 June, but a lesser amount. Safety wise, our experience was fine. The ladies in the office were very friendly and always answered my questions. My biggest complaint would have to be how understaffed the maintenance department is. There are 3 properties and I was told there is 1 maintenance man for all three of them. This seems to be not a good business strategy. Our appliances hardly worked, and when there were major issues (such as plumbing, dishwasher leaking out into the entire kitchen), it was several weeks before they were fixed. I do not think I would recommend this complex to anyone based on those issues alone. I expected as prompt as possible repairs, because that's what my lease guaranteed. Deerwood 2 needs to have more focus on the laundry room. It has two working washers yet there is 4 sitting down there. Residents have to do laundry sparsely, go elsewhere or buy their own machines if they're lucky to have a hookup. Management do better. Cooperate do better. This is a sad excuse of a laundry area for over 100 people. Also to be noted there is 4 dryers and only two of them work decent enough to fully dry clothes. Not to mention there is no coin area there is only the app. Sick of excuses. Order the damn machines and put them in. For the rent they ask you think the amenities would atleast be held to a reasonable standard.

As a resident of Deerwood, I have to say that my overall experience has been pleasurable. I was not necessarily expecting to move to a different complex however, Karli was very instrumental in my decision to move to Deerwood. She showed genuine interest and Really made my transition to Deerwood effortless! I really enjoy my apartment and the property.
