Capitol Villa Apartments

Being an out of state student at Michigan State, I often feel flustered with the amount of options presented when deciding on my next place to live. Luckily I stumbled across Capitol Villa's, although me and my roommates are still mulling our offers due to location and pricing, the customer service was overall excellent, I believe we where treated by this lady named Olivia, you could tell she was very happy and passionate about working at the leasing office, and she had a true skill for leading people in the right direction.

Had a short term lease at Capitol Villa over the summer and moved out early. The leasing office is kind of everywhere. It seems the manager is the only one that knows everything as simple questions can't be answered (like how visitor parking works, for example), or the workers need the manager for certain processes. The communication when trying to sign my lease also wasn't great either since my lease had to be uniquely created I would've had to get it notarized if I didn't come into the office to sign. Normally wouldn't be a problem but I was given time constraints to get this signed within a day on a holiday weekend. I should've just been told upfront so I could plan a time to visit. We'll see what happens as this is more on me not reading the lease fully but I'm being charged a full mon

Capitol Villa does a timely job responding to maintenance requests within a few days. They did mess up the plumbing when changing the basin and faucet of our bathroom sink which resulted in a large leak, but they eventually fixed that too. When they came and replaced our sink and cabinet handles, they did not increase our rent. I hope they do this for other tenants and continue this practice only increasing rent for renewals or new agreements. The unit I lived in was on the top floor and kept heat better than the bottom floors. The complex is kept enjoyably clean inside and outside. Observing the pool in passing, I'd say never to expect to use the actual pool. The hot tub on the other hand is great in the winter months!

I lived in the Collingwood residence of which Capitol Villa is the leasing company for a year and I have nothing good to say about DTN, Capitol Villa, or Collingwood. Speaking from personal experience with DTN as a company and with Capitol Villa’s leasing office, I have multiple points to make. #1 being that my roommate and I had a mice infestation in our unit that was never resolved. Capitol Villa’s maintenance team, of whom entered our apartment multiple times without my roommate or I being notified, and employees from whatever rodent company Capitol Villa hired, had been in our unit to “fix” this issue to no success. Capitol Villa was my leasing office for my apartment at Collingwood, and let me tell you they are the most frustrating, unpleasant management. Shortly after moving in my roomate had noticed mice in our apartment, we had called about 30 times left a maintenance request and had a face to face meeting with a manager over this issue across the course of living there and nobody ever came to terminate the mice. Every single time I would call they would say the same thing and tell us someone would be over to fix this issue, never once did that happen. On top of that we had been getting up charged for our gas expenses on our rent every month! I noticed this around December and the same thing happened where I called repeatedly and then went to have a meeting with manager Candice and nothing happene
