Winston Square Apartments

I was living in a house downtown before I moved here, but there were constant issues with theft of packages from our porches, escalation in other more serious crimes, a couple of drive-by shootings! and our home was broken into it. Enough. I was looking for a place to rent, planning on just a year until I found another house, however it's been three years living right next to gorgeous Sapsucker Woods and I love it. Whereas I miss homeownership, I'm unwilling to pay the outrageous prices in the region and will wait until the market settles. Until then I live here in peace, calm, crime-free, lovely Winston Square. When I first moved in, I saw some lower ratings but took the chance anyway. After living here for multiple years, I only have positive things to say about my experiences. Management was excellent and maintenance always had a fast turnaround. I really enjoyed living here and would recommend to others looking for an apartment in the Ithaca area.

If I could give no stars I would. This place is trash from management to the buildings themselves. This is low income house being "remodeled" into "luxury apartemnts." They are very friendly until you finally get locked into a contract. My family and I lived there for a little less than a year. We got to experience 2 different property managers. Both were absolutely horrific. They don't care about there tenants, and make it very clear. We brought our new baby home in December, and we lost heat for 4 days(this happened over 5 times while we lived there) There resolution was one small space heater since we were going into a weekend. Applied for an Apartment with Proof of Income and an Immaculate Rental History (Never had late payments or an eviction), as a business owner in Ithaca NY that makes well over the poverty line how is one to find an apartment in this city that's reasonably priced if even I can't make it in? The ethics of this business are in question and I'm happy that I was able to learn this before any commitments were made, if you are seeing this, DO NOT Rent from this business, DO NOT support these terrible Landlords.

Most of what I have to say about this place will probably violate posting rules because it's all negative. I've lived at Winston Court, now Winston Square, for years and have never been treated so poorly by management until the new owners took over. There are so many deplorable things happening in our dissolving community, this used to be a great place for families to live. We have children and the number of families living here and the play structures were the deciding factors when choosing this place. All the play structures were demolished when the new management took over. Please, before you commit to living here, talk to the tenants and find out the truth about the new property owners. Yes, they gave the place a pretty face lift, but the management is rotten to the core.
