Main thing I would say if your living here is to triple check any charges from ptla as my roomates and I had countless instances of being over charged or double charged and everytime we alerted the management their reaction just reassured that it would happen again and again. So be extremely mindful of how they are handling your money…. Ive also never had more inspections or inconveniences in an apartment just truly was an annoying experience. Was also disgusting when we moved in last year. Moved in with my two roomates this month. On arrival we saw the construction with no prior warning, except a $250 gift card with minimal context concerning construction. The only stairs we were able to use the first two weeks and for move in were scaffolding. September 20 at 10:30 am with no warning fr
Here is currently view of my sons move in. Told through October, talked to onsite contractor who said November. Students not able to be onsite first day of class. His apartment has no sprinklers, one room has interior window covered by plastic and blue tape. Students were given $250 gift card for “inconvenience”. Absolutely ridiculous. Their rent should be subsidized period. Investigating lease and renter rights.
I work overnight shifts while also being a full-time student, so having a quiet place to sleep during the day is essential. Unfortunately, maintenance here is extremely inconsistent and unnecessarily loud. I’m regularly woken up around 8am by construction noise — including, at one point, workers throwing wood from the second floor instead of carrying it down. For someone with sensory issues, this is especially difficult to live with. Management is also very hard to reach. In my two months here, I’ve already had two issues with rent being double-charged. While both were eventually corrected, there was no acknowledgment of my voicemails or any direct communication from the office. Overall, the lack of communication and consideration has made living here very frustrating.
I do not recommend. **Do not rent from PTLA.** Overpriced and management is a total nightmare, apartment was actively under construction when we moved in with barely any communication, this went on for 3 months. Every weekday, banging on the walls from 8am-5pm. One time my window was ripped out of my wall while I was laying in bed, and we only got a notice about it 4 days after it happened. Definitely just trying to take advantage of college students new to renting, utilities were insane and our rent overall was often over $900 per person. Each load of laundry costs about $8 too. Only benefits were the location and view, but seriously, I’d recommend finding anywhere else to avoid the headache.
As we moved in September we were promptly informed as we arrived at the apartment that the building would be under construction. We had received an email about this but it had described light touch-up work here and there. It was not touch-up work. The entire front face of the building was being remodeled and to move in we had to use scaffolding to get to our room. This however got worse as the entire front parking lot would be closed to the residents as construction continued. For those without a parking pass, they were forced to find parking elsewhere. As we got into the first few weeks of our living, we noticed the build quality and living space to be subpar in many areas including the living room, window sills, kitchen, and personal rooms. As we continued we ran into a not functioning d
