DO NOT TRUST The Original Log Cabin Homes — SCAM TACTICS AND MISLEADING PROMISES I deeply regret ever doing business with The Original Log Cabin Homes. I put down $12,000 based on false promises that were completely misleading and, in my opinion, designed to deceive. Their website and sales reps claimed they work with several banks to help with financing — NOT TRUE. I personally contacted every financial institution listed — not one of them had ever heard of this company or offered financing for their cabins. They also gave me a list of "recommended" builders and erectors who supposedly assemble their cabins — every single one told me they have no relationship with this company and have never erected a cabin from them. Be very careful with this company. Read the contract a hundred times and ask questions. Do not take the word of the sales person. Once you pay the down payment, you will not get your money back no matter the reason. They do not provide contractors. They will provide a list of contractors, but there is no guarantee they will build your house for a reasonable price. After two years of searching for a contractor, the best we could find was $320,000 to dry us in and that did not include the price of the logs, delivery, or finishing the inside. The final home would have cost more than $700,000 for a 2500 square foot home. You could lose thousands of dollars on this deal.

Long, long drawn out process. Once you sign the contract, and pay a down payment, that's when you find out about all of the hidden costs. Not one of their contractors are licensed in the state of Florida. You think you are getting cypress, but it's white pine, which is absolutely the worst possible lumber in Florida. Before you purchase make sure the company has licensed contractors. Don't try to hire your own, that's another disaster in the making.

Don’t buy anything from these crooks. They give you a supposedly 50 % off discount then everything you buy after that they say you need costs triple. They wanted to charge 24000 to ship the logs from NC to Florida. I had it done for 7000. Just get a total amount of the package shipping window upgrades and make that 50% off everything you purchase.

We have been waiting for 85 days for a set of Blueprints that the county we are building in will accept. We paid $4800.00 for these and the 1st set had errors. They don't tell you about the 'HIDDEN COSTS" at the sale either. Such as the decking and rails for porches are not part of the home. Extra, They want a delivery date but will not provide you with anything that you can use to get your permits. Then when you discuss the shipping, theirs is marked up considerable compared to you hiring an outside vendor. Windows delivery 6 months out or we can pay someone else to delivery them sooner for an extra 2K. The online price that we were given is used against you when you ask about any delays.
