The Metro at Charleston

I lived here for three years while attending EIU. honestly… would pass on living here again. Yes it is aesthetically pleasing, but the poor maintenance, smell of the building/constant indoor marijuana use, and inability to get ahold of management made it so not worth it. Also, I should mention the multiple drug deals I witnessed, whether it be in the parking lot or through people’s ground level windows…. For example, a few months into living there our oven stopped working. It took them over a month to come look at it/bring us a working one that happened to be extremely dirty with dead bugs/cobwebs in it. Our lightbulbs had to be replaced by maintenance due to the fixtures, but that meant they would be out for at least a month at a time. Air filters were VERY rarely replaced. My closet door

My family and I were in search of an apartment that was clean, up to date. We had searched high and low for a apartment that met all of our needs and we finally came across this apartment. The move in went very smoothly. The apartments are VERY clean and up to date which is exactly what we were looking for. Management is great and always addressed any concerns I had. Also, An absolute positive experience from the moment I requested maintenance up until the time it was finished they always completed the job thoroughly. Nothing but professionalism and kindness, and a genuine sense of care. I don't typically leave reviews but they deserve it! I definitely reccomend.

Property management has poorly maintained this building. Building has been hit by a car, tenant cars have been stolen from the parking lot, and let’s not forget the oh so scenic flashing lights of police cars while multiple arrests have been made in this very units parking lot! In addition, management has not been replacing furnace filters as needed, nor have they been able to find time to fix legitimate problems, such as corridor lighting and doors. Let’s not forget about the lovely sauna you’re sure to receive as you climb up three flights of stairs encased by the worlds least efficient windows, as the afternoon sun beats down. You’ll be sure to work up a sweat simply climbing the inferno of a stair well! Enjoy your lovely new apartment with all these cool, cutting-edge features!

My husband and I lived there for a year. When we first moved in there was saw dust on everything. I cleaned everything, including the inside of the closet and the inside closet sliding doors because it was getting all over our clothes. I let it go and didn’t mention it. A week or so in I went to open our living room window and it would not stay open so I told maintenance. The blind in the bedroom didn’t work so I told maintenance. Neither of them were fixed in the entire year we lived there even though I mentioned it multiple times. I would get multiple texts telling me I need to pay rent or I’ll get a late fee when I had already paid rent. Management is on top of their game and maintenance is always punctual and done right. Which is a huge improvement over my last dwelling. Great location for starting out on your own or raising your family. Would give 10 stars if I could.
