Don’t move in here unless you want to be woken up constantly at 3 a.m. by alarms that go off and don’t stop for half an hour. The management is genuinely the worst I’ve ever experienced. The people at the front desk are students who couldn’t care less and the managers are never to be seen. Also, the building is disgusting for the amount of money everyone pays. The floors are always dirty and covered in food. The Wi-Fi goes out every other week, Elevators are always down, Water is never hot, the amenities don’t even work, and you’ll be lucky if you make it through a week without a major issue like flooding or leaks. Not to even mention that when I moved in there was a HUGE hole in my bathroom wall and the toilet didn't even work. I went downstairs and they told me it will be handled, gues
I've been living at the Maxxen for a little over a month, and i'm honestly disgusted by how poorly this building is managed. The downstairs office is run by college students who could careless, are very rude, and completely unprofessional. The girls at the front desk are extremely nasty and dismissive, the only polite and helpful person i've encountered is one of the male employees who works there and the new girl they just hired. Mail and packages are a complete nightmare. My mail has been delivered here multiple times, yet it has never once been placed in my mailbox. I constantly have to go into the office and dig through other residents mail just to find mine, and even then, its often missing. The same goes for packages in the package room. I am always looking through other residents p
I never really feel compelled to write reviews, but living in the Maxxen this year has been my worst living experience in my 4 years at Penn State. Living at the Maxxen has been nothing but bad news. Since moving in, I have not had a single day of hot water. All of my apartment and many other apartments have had 0 hot water, leaving you freezing for the entire days. The elevators are constantly down, meaning if you want to go somewhere you have to leave an extra 5 minutes early to include waiting time. Simple things such as the printer does not even work. If i wasn’t paying so much, i wouldn’t care. The administration also does not care that their tenants are experiencing their problems, and almost never address them. Calling this a luxury building is just fraudulent. Spend your money some
I’ve lived at the Maxxen for two years now, and the location and private room/bathroom are unbeatable. Kitchen was large and had lots of storage. Couches were SO COMFY. Absolutely worth it. It made it a lot easier to come home between classes, and study in my own space. The only downside was the random roommate matching. Both my junior and senior years, I’ve needed at least one random roommate to fill a space in my 4x4. Each time this happened, I’ve gotten roommates who did not at all match the questionare I (and my non-random roommates) filled out for the match. Elevators didn’t work from time to time either, but it wasn’t a huge problem. Overall, I’d recommend the Maxxen to PSU students looking for an apartment.
The good thing about our room is that the view is very nice. We like the shared spaces, especially the kitchen and living room, which have great natural light and a pleasant view. The setup is clean and minimalistic. However, the bedrooms feel physically smaller than what was shown on the website floor plan. There are also deep scratches and some minor damage on the floors and walls. In terms of sound, the noise cancellation and overall privacy are just average. Sometimes we can hear footsteps from people walking upstairs, but most of the time it is relatively quiet and peaceful.
