The Hilltop Apartment Homes

I recently moved out of Hilltop “Luxury” Homes (formerly The Brooke) after living there for nearly seven years, and I would be remiss if I didn’t warn others. This review is lengthy by necessity—I’ve seen more than most, including several years serving as the complex’s courtesy (police) officer. I moved in July 2019 under an agreement that reduced rent in exchange for responding to on-site incidents. From day one, the unit showed significant wear: embedded pet food in the carpet, weak flooring in the living room and bedroom, damaged cabinetry, missing paint, and pest issues—including a roach nest behind the refrigerator. Management dismissed structural concerns as “good enough,” which became a recurring theme. Despite frequent disturbances—fights, drug activity, and even shootings—manageme

There are no garages, no covered parking spaces. Untidy territory of the complex. There are a lot of broken and scratched cars. The buildings don't look nice... The office staff is not to welcome new clients... The terrain of the complex consists of hills that rise and fall.

I went to do a tour there and the two bedroom they showed me had multiple roaches!! Two side by side in one bed room, two in the bathroom and another one in the other bedroom not to mention the sink and bathroom were incredibly dirty. I find that insane because it’s been cold bugs don’t normally come out in the cold or at least not this many it’s concerning because it’s like how long has someone been in here to clean??? If they can’t keep up with the ones that aren’t housed i don’t even want to know what happens when someone is living there and we would need something like pest control I don’t imagine they would be quick and efficient yuck

There are better places than this one. Lived here years ago and I see even with the new look and name, it still has a LOT to be concerned about. Like waiting until we are moving out to finally replace some cabinet doors. Check out the roach video! 🪳

GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE! Especially if you are active duty military or any contractor looking to rent while you’re here for work… run! They have no proper vetting process for the people who live there witnessed multiple crimes including prostitution and drug dealing. Temple police dept gets calls from hilltop and they already know it as “ a problem area” it’s everything but quiet. Multiple thefts and trash disposal is awful as there’s always critters and cats in trash area since trash constantly is being placed everywhere but in the receptacle. Bring it up to management and they do nothing but gas light you. Also good luck moving out they will find every single possible way to not give you your deposit back. HUD( federally) and other agencies have been contacted… good luck!
