The Gates at The Marina Apartments

Why is it impossible to talk to a physical person at this apartment complex? This apartment complex was recently purchased by International Equities Corporation. When I first moved in, the customer service was great. You were actually able to talk to the property manager. Now it is a purely automated service that loops you constantly and prevents you from talking to a physical person. If you look up IEC you can see that they essentially purchase apartment complexes and ruin them in the name of profit. I suspect conditions will continue to deteriorate at Gates unfortunately.

Admittedly there aren't many great options in the Monterey/Marina area and you could do worse then here. However I cant recommend this place if you have better options. The units aren't bad and it's pretty quiet that's where all the positives end. I've rented my entire adult life and have never had more consistent issues with a property. From initial lease issues, rude employees, and overflowing garbage/recycling to their inability to stop our apartment from being perpetually overrun by ants. We've lived here for ~15 months and currently have zero plans to stay another lease cycle

Ended up not renting here due to the size of rooms and needing a 3bed. The property itself was very quiet and they had good sized parking spots, and the laundry room was clean and nice. I wanted to leave a review because we have been looking around Monterey and Marina for a rental and want to post here the good and the bad. Well here at the Gates, the manager and assistant were so very nice and wanting to strive to work with us. The assistant was very friendly and gentle mannered, which was very nice and refreshing to meet as we had been encountering so many property management teams who were rude, unprofessional, not knowledgeable , and unwilling to be helpful.

I have lived at the Gates of Marina for 2 years. I absolutely love living here. It’s very quiet and the staff are amazing,they attend to my needs immediately,always friendly and professional. The apartments are very clean and new. Beautiful hardwood floors,which are easy to keep clean and everything is painted so nicely in a nice,soft gray,I love it! My bathtub is amazing and comfortable,with a reclining side to comfortably lay down in (it’s cozy on the neck) , I have never seen a bathtub like this. My favorite feature is my 3 patios,one in my room,one in the kitchen and one in the living room. It’s wonderful to have fresh air flowing through the apartment. I am 💯 happy with the office personnel, Yolanda! She has gone above and beyond to help my transition at the Gates in Marina when I first moved in 2 years ago and now to another unit. The maintenance staff is always extremely helpful and knowledgeable in their duties as well! Thanks for going above and beyond for me! 🤗
