The Commons at Southfield

I have been living at the Commons at Southfield for almost 9 years after selling my house and downsizing. I have absolutely no regrets. This was exactly what I was looking for. I love my apartment so much. My space is perfect for me and suits me to a T. The folks in the Leasing Center have always been, and continue to be, the most professional, friendly, accommodating, and responsive team around. The same set of adjectives describes the wonderful maintenance team as well. I haven't had many issues over the years, but they are always quick to respond and to help find solutions. I feel very well cared for and safe. We are currently in the process of getting a lovely glow up -- fresh paint and new flooring in all the common areas. I have been living here for 10 years . We recently had a major snowstorm . I was both impressed and relieved by the fantastic job “ The Commons “ did with snow removal . In addition my time here has been enjoyable . They have very efficient operations . The grounds are so nicely maintained it feels nice to live here The valet garbage and the package room I find to be extremely helpful . The central location is convenient for all my needs . I sincerely recommend this residence

My husband and I have lived at the Commons for almost two years, and it has been a wonderful experience. The leasing staff is so attentive and friendly, and maintenance is always quick to respond and solve any issues. We have a one bedroom with a den, and the amount of space is perfect for us! I love the carpet and tile mix for flooring, and there is so much cabinet and closet space. 100% recommend living at the Commons!

Prospective tenants should review all feedback posted, including those that have not received a response. Unanswered concerns involving fees, safety, or ADA and housing rights should be considered carefully before applying or signing. The leasing office is consistently unprofessional and rarely answers the phone, selecting which calls to respond to. The property manager avoids addressing resident conflicts directly and prioritizes leasing and commission over transparency. Many residents have shared similar experiences. Common areas went years with strong odors and cosmetic masking rather than actual maintenance. HVAC issues have remained unresolved, and background checks do not appear consistently enforced, leading to repeated safety concerns on the property.

I am demanding the immediate refund of all the money I paid. You charged me over $4,000 even though you said the application fee would not exceed $200, and you promised a 48-hour refund if I was not approved. It has now been three weeks, and you still have not returned my money. This is misrepresentation, bad-faith business practice, and completely unacceptable. I need this money back now, because I must secure housing immediately — I am literally left without a place to stay because of your delays. If my full refund is not sent within 48 hours, I will file complaints with the California Department of Real Estate, the Attorney General, housing authorities, and my bank, and I will pursue legal action.
