Sterling Property Management

Living in Oliver Tree APT (1370 Byron DR, Salinas) over seven years, the experience was good but things changed dramatically after being managed by this company. Lots of awful experiences with this management led by a guy named Jacob Kelley. They made profit ($20/month) by delaying accepting my signed yearly lease for five months. They forced me to acknowledge what I didn't do, like canceling a plumbing appointment, and then charged me weekend overtime repairing fee without noticing me ahead. Too much to expose, in general, they don't care renters but only money.

I've been calling, emailing, and leaving voice messages all week because they sent me a bill for a unit. I have never lived in any of their properties and have never signed a lease with them, but had applied to a totally different property over a year ago. Impossible to contact and clearly disorganized.

Never ever rent with the company. I just moved out of an apartment managed by Sterling after staying there for 12 month. Here is their service before vs after signing the lease. Before: the staff covered up the fact about the noise level while I did the virtual tour. I couldn't see it in person. The staff might mute the phone in the virtual tour while I asked about the noise level since it is on a main street. I didn't hear the traffic in the tour. During the lease: the apt complex is not well maintained. The laundry room is always filthy; plus, the washer and dryer damaged clothes, but Sterling and owner refused to compensate. Sterling never intended to repair the washer and dryer. Manager of the apt, named J. K., is NOT knowledgeable about the unit but always talks in a patronizing way.

Not only have I had positive experiences providing them my pressure washing services but I have been a tenant for many years of one of the properties they manage. Jacob and his team stay on the ball to the best of their ability to manage the challenging relationships between owners and tenants. They rally to get things fixed when needed and I have never once felt intruded upon by them. Always cordial professional and quick whenever they need to be on the property.

Jacob Kelly and Sterling are the absolute best on the Monterey peninsula, they are attentive, responsive, and understanding. Very much needed during these times. Jacob and his team always ensured our unit was up to par and within the highest standards. Jacob is very responsive and aims to give his tenants the best. Always respectful of privacy and that is something me and my family really like about Sterling, true professionals!
