I would not recommend living at Somerville Gardens. I lived there for two years. There was major flooding in the back of the complex. Our unit had 10,000 bees in the walls that needed removal. There was a bat in the apartment that needed animal control to remove. Our electricity bill was also very high which made the cheaper rent not as worth it. We did not get our full security deposit back even though there was no damage in the unit so be mindful when your lease ends. I’d suggest checking out the other apartments in the area. Even if it’s slightly cheaper, the electricity bill might even it out with the nicer complexes. This was my experience and it could be different for others but I can’t recommend Somerville Gardens.
Lived here for several years and would recommend against to anyone living in the area. Buildings are quite old and poorly maintained, so expect to be paying $300+ in the winter for electricity + heating, even when used conservatively. Shared facilities are frequently broken without notice, you're better off going off-site for laundry as the machine son property are rarely cleaned. The property is also on a flood plane, so the lower lot will typically flood a couples times a year, potentially affecting the lower buildings. The one redeeming quality of the property is the location, but even that doesn't justify the price tag, especially when the remodels are just replacing the doorknobs and faucets to look more modern. Expect the office to be extremely slow to respond, and to nickel and
My girlfriend and I moved into the apartment a year ago and our lease is expiring in a month, I figured I’d leave an honest review. The apartments are beautiful and spacious however, there are a couple serious problems that are the reason why it’s cheaper than the rest of Somerville. you deal with mold, roaches, and a super who is extremely slow to respond to issues. We had roaches the whole time and mentioned it to him and were told we have to buy traps to deal with them. I later learnt that they do have a contracted pest control service, it just wasn’t offered to us. The mold, which ruined many items of ours, is all over. We called the super to remove the mold, and it took him multiple days to show up to look at it, and he said he has it too (he lives on property) and that we have to pos
I’ve been living here for about 3 months now. So far it’s been great! My electric bill has not been as high as the other reviews- October it was $50 and November it was $80. I’m expecting it to go up this winter but definitely not outrageously expensive. I also turn the heat off during the day as I go to work. There is plenty of parking and the new management has added new appliances to the kitchen. I have requested to management that they add a bike rack to the area as there are plenty of great bike paths and parks in the area. It would be great if they can follow up on that request. Overall I’m happy with the apartment and it fits well for me and my budget. I’d recommend this place to my friends and family.
Been here for 1 year 8 months. Walking distance to laundry, a grocery store, and a ton of other stuff. The apartment itself is also great. Just don’t park in the back of the parking lot. It’s a flood zone. Otherwise great place.
