Brookside at Somerville

When I signed my lease I was told that heat was included. What I wasn’t told is the boiler wasn’t working. So the maintenance supervisor told me to use the units that were installed in the bedroom and living room these units provide heat and air conditioning. The units aren’t efficient and my electric bill tripled. There are no units in the bathroom or kitchen and the window to the boiler room is open to the elements making the hardwood floors freezing when it’s cold out. Below is a picture of the window that is under my apartment. I would not recommend renting here to anyone!!

I had a pleasantly surprising time living at Brookside. I had to get an apartment urgently and was able to go there and fill out an application same day, got approved very fast, and Ashley made the onboarding process a breeze. The apartment was cute, cozy, freshly painted, no real issues when I lived there for a full year, just a clogged shower drain from time to time. Maintenance was super responsive. After moving out, the office was accommodating with the questions/ things I had with my security deposit. They’re also very affordable compared to other apartments in the area. I would highly recommend Brookside and very impressed with the improvements they made since Ida in 2021

I recently moved into the St. Charles Classic, and the experience has been unacceptable. I strongly advise potential renters to exercise extreme caution before signing a lease here. Bait and Switch: Before I signed my lease, management sent me a video tour clearly showing an apartment with radiators and a kitchen door. Upon move-in, my unit had neither. Instead, it relies on old, extremely loud window/wall units for heat. Management claimed the video was just a "general representation," but replacing a silent central heating system with loud, inefficient window units is a major misrepresentation of the property. Heating and Habitability: There is no permanent heat source in the kitchen. Temperatures there stay well below the legal limit of 68°F. Management’s only solution was to provide a
