I am currently living here and have been here since September. So far, it's been good! Maintenance takes care of things well and at a reasonable time, and checks up on you often to double check if everything is to your satisfaction. People have rated maint low here, which surprises me. I have seen comments about rats, I have not had those issues at all, and there has been no mold issues. There is enough parking--- we've never had an issue with the parking lot being completely full which is great. The place is old and a bit dingy, but most apartments are, it gives it character! (closets are difficult to open, closet rods aren't installed well, previous tenants have created nicks etc). And it doesn't have the best insolation, so I don't recommend using the wall heaters when you can.
Monterra apartments is in a fantastic location, near to just about anything you’d need including groceries, schools, entertainment, and more. Any maintenance requests we’ve had are quickly answered and fixed. Parking is limited and other tenants and their guests don’t necessarily follow the rule of needing a pass in order to park in the lot, but that’s not a knock on the property itself. Overall it’s been a fantastic place to live from a comfort standpoint and I’d recommend it for anyone looking for housing in a great location.
Have had mostly great experiences living here in montera. We had a rat problem, but PTLA was very good at getting it resolved. Nice place to live for young people and college students, very close to WWU. Haven’t had any major issues living here and when I do PTLA has been very responsive. I’m hoping next on their list of to-do’s will be to fill in some pot holes.
avoid PTLA in general, but definitely avoid Monterra. There are rats everywhere and the only thing they are doing for them is bringing a pest guy once a month to reset the traps (that don't work). They charged us $100 to reset an outlet because "we could have done it ourselves" (we didn't know the outlet was a problem, our fridge just stopped working.....) AND they didn't actually charge my account for TWO WEEKS and then slapped on a late fee the DAY after. It took them months to fix a giant, very deep pothole .They recently implemented a new damage program and made it super confusing and difficult to waive it if you already had renters insurance. The actual apartments are tiny for what I am paying, I pay almost 16 hundred dollars in rent and i see absolutely nothing positive about this pl
It took them months to fix a door that was broken when I moved in, and they continued contacting me for weeks after it was replaced to ask if I still needed it fixed. There are cracks in the ceiling and dents in the walls that were not marked on the move in inspection, so expect to document everything floor to ceiling if you want your deposit back. My toilet and kitchen outlets will randomly stop working and maintenance does nothing to fix either issue, just telling us to "call if it gets worse". The on-site washers/dryers are expensive for how poorly they clean, are out of service 90% of the time, and have ripped up my roommates clothes twice. You can find a unit in downtown Bham for half the cost and twice the charm.
