When I was 15 I was in this place for 9 or 10 months I was only their bc I didn’t have anywhere to go not because of behavior issues and I can say I wish it was shut down this isn’t a place anyone should send their child to no matter how badly they behave it’s more like a cult than a family I still have issues with anxiety over it .thankfully the house mom I had while I was there was the best out of all of them but the other house mom when I would have weekend at her house was one of the worst she had a disabled son that she barley took care of to the point where she would let her disabled sons diaper fill up to where there would be feces smeared on the carpet and she would just lay a towel down for hours which is insanely un sanitary,I ended up gaining 50 pounds because of the diet she h

My name is Mellissa and I was placed in the care of Happy Haven (H.H.) in 2015 until I went to college in 2017. I want to be extremely transparent and upfront about my experience! I included some photos from some of my favorite times captured at H.H. This was a "last resort" option for me, and I'm not sure where I would be now if I didn't have this opportunity. I want to make it VERY clear, this is NOT an abusive or neglectful place. It is quite the opposite! I, like most of these girls, came from abusive, neglectful, drug-involved situation with very little life skills, guidance, and opportunities. Okay, I stuff this place in the darkest parts of my memory. I see them saying people wanna discredit them but they really arent listening and never were good at it, placing blame is pretty much all what HH is good about. I need to also say what made me think of this place is listening to the Podcast Liberty Lost and while it's not a 'Maternity Home' it's pretty much ran the same way, with some tweaks. I came into this place when I was in middle school and I stayed until my sophomore year. I believe that if parents think that their children are troubled that they need to handle it and help them that's what parents are for kids and teenagers should not be shipped off to facilitys just because they can't discipline or handle their kids. Happy haven was a facility not a family and it felt like we were animals being patted down like twice a day and our belongings searched. And we should not be pushing Christianity on anyone it should be a choice not forced on that's no way of changing a person for the good

the worst place ever if you love your kids don't send them there, they have horrible staff and they push you into a religion that they believe in, and I don't think it's right
