I am a current tenant who has been forced to live for multiple years in a unit that regularly smells like rotting garbage. Management has refused to repair, clean, or properly maintain the communal garage where trash is stored. As a result, the space is infested with flies, maggots, and larvae, and the stench seeps directly into my apartment. As countless other reviews have noted, this management operates like slumlords—raising rent while refusing to perform basic maintenance or provide clean, habitable living conditions. I have been requesting repairs to this area for over a year. Because management continues to ignore the problem, I am legally permitted to withhold rent. Instead of addressing the issue, management chose to retaliate by serving me with a 3-day notice to pay rent or vacat

I used to live in the apartments on Waite Drive in La Mesa. As tenants, requesting maintenance was a pain. They also had roaches in the townhome! No matter how much they "treated " the apartment the cockroach problem never went away. We also had neighbors that would argue all the time. Truthfully and thankfully, my stepfather knew how to fix some maintenance issues and he was a painter as well so we actually left the townhouse looking better than it did we we arrived! I would never go back to renting from them ever again. Unhelpful and they charge you for nothing!

Sal & Becky have been property managers for several of our properties, for over a decade…and I wouldn’t want to do this without them! They have offered invaluable advice, put out fires, are always accessible, and keep us compliant and competitive in the market. I am very hands on maintaining our properties but there are a slew of responsibilities I don’t have time and the capacity to handle and I don’t worry with Flying Dog looking out for us!!! I hate to see poor reviews from disgruntled tenants, but I realize that’s part of the PM business, especially when you have to evict someone. I promise, this is the type of service, expertise, and ability you want to have as a landlord in California!

We lived in one of their apartments in La Mesa. The apartment was nice enough for the price, but there were cockroaches in it before we even arrived that we had a heck of a time getting rid of on our own. One of the bedroom carpets reeked of urine. It was replaced upon our request. The floors were filthy upon move-in. No air conditioning in the unit, which I know is common for Southern California apartments, however the windows opened side to side instead of up and down which makes it nearly impossible to install a window unit. Water shut offs happened very frequently, which was frustrating.

For property management companies I think most people look at them the same way we do attorneys. My experience with Flying Dog was amazing. They were always prompt when I brought issues forward and always very friendly which is really hard to come by these days! I highly recommend using them going through them rather you're a renter or wanting someone to manage your property.
