As buyer, I was left to fend for myself. Documentation was late (or never provided), and in one case I was given a last minute disclosure of tax law, only to be told by staff at this firm that they “didn’t know anything” about the underlying meaning of the document. When I was finally able to speak with someone who claim knowledge of the document, I was essentially told I was on my own and the title company couldn’t (or wouldn’t) help me. If, as a buyer, the seller in your transaction picks First American, you might want to consider hiring your own real estate attorney. Don’t expect to get much help otherwise.
