I have leased with Candor for a year now in one of their locations off of downtown Lafayette. I really appreciated their attentiveness to maintenance and affordability. The maintenance crew has always been very friendly and came with a solution the day after I text their maintenance line. Some of the properties have tenants that are not that respectful to the buildings and my building in particular had a lot of people leaving trash around/hallways smelling of smoke and other things. Candor has always been proactive and can only do their best based off of the tenants that lease. I presume their other locations might be different. I have also really appreciated their staff that is in the office and they have always given me a notice if they were showing my unit. They were great working with

Easily the best place I've ever rented from. Very flexible and worked with me when I needed to leave my lease early. Also the first place that didn't try to cheat me out of my security deposit. Couldn't recommend enough

I rented an apartment through Candor Realty from August 2014 to August 2015. My experience finding the apartment sight-unseen was great - I was originally slated to rent a different apartment than the one I ended up in, but due to a management error that resulted in an employee being fired, I was offered the apartment at a discount. The unit originally had coin-operated laundry, but when the machines broke down, they were replaced with free units. The only problem I had that required maintenance was a leaky garbage disposal, which they handled in a reasonable amount of time. This review is from a tenant standpoint as well as from someone who was in property management for several years. Hopefully it helps a prospective tenant as well as a property owner. Candor does not do the greatest job advertising their available units online. They tend to just put a for rent sign outside of the property. Their leasing agent, Kara, is quick to respond and friendly. However, after the showing process you no longer deal with Kara. You deal with the manager, Nisha. Nisha is not very friendly and slow to respond which can be frustrating. They make paying easy. They have the option to send it in via mail, drop it off at their office or pay online (for a small processing fee). Their cleaning people do a great job before move in. I looked at a house with them, was absolutely the perfect location for my daughter. They had me put down a deposit before running my app which was fine. One would think when you give someone an 800.00 check that your the 1st in line. Nope, a week later they called and said they approved someone else. In that time the other houses for rent in that area where taken and I had to start from square 1 with 3 weeks to move. Seems like they should have at least said they were in the process of running someone's app already. I didn't lose any money but my time was just as valuable.
