Avana at South Station

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at this apartment complex was disappointing enough that I feel it’s important to share. From the moment I moved in, it was clear the unit had not been properly cleaned (dust bunnies caked on the ceiling). The floors were damaged, the patio screen door did not function, and the “updated” features were nothing more than new cabinet faces covering rotted/water damaged frames. Even the bathroom caulking was layered over mold - so much so that I ended up recaulking it myself just to feel comfortable using the shower. Maintenance support was also nonexistent when I first moved in. It took several weeks and multiple request before anything was addressed. My fiancé and I lived here for a year. While the apartment was nice enough, and the neighbors were great, we saw cars that had been broken into one more than one occasion and the management said it's "not their responsibility." Pros: dog park, lots of green space, cozy apartments, library and mall nearby. Cons: dangerous at night, highway and light rail make it loud at all times, neighborhood (specifically the gas station near the library) was full of folks who were violent/high/dangerous and accosted us on more than 3 occassions.

Management does not respond to portal messages, emails, or return calls. Go in person if you need anything from them. Homeless people sleep in the stairwells, management refuses to do anything about it. Fire alarms go off every other month from people smoking in them. Maintenance team are all great and super helpful, though management doesn't equip them well enough. Took 6 months to fix a dishwasher because they didn't order new ones.

So updating this, they will wrongfully try to evict you when you decide to get your things fixed. Had to tell them that the stove was giving off white smoke. Which is an electrical problem and had to get them at least 5 times to get a new one. Will try to wrongfully evict you if you decide to push them to fix anything on this property. The management doesn't help. Maintenance doesn't care and acts like you're stupid. The owners at Greystar don't care one bit about this property but wants to keep raising the rent. None of these apartments that they show are worth more than 600 dollars a month. Lies on their floor plans about having in apartment individual washer and dryer. The whole building only has 2 washers & dryers that you have to pay for. They don't want to fix anything in the apartm

Be aware and diligent to this place! I have submitted an application and paid for the deposit for a 2 bed 1 bath around mid July. My application got approved of and I was playing the waiting game for them to send over a lease agreement. Haven't heard from them for weeks to find out a week ago that the specific apartment we applied for was listed on their website again which includes a different price and move in date. $250 is a lot of money for some people including myself. Sent them a message about it, but haven't heard since. Might as well find another option that's more worth it instead of getting fished out $250.
