Westwood Village

Last year, I stayed in the studio apartment here and had a series of frustrating issues. First, the air conditioner was leaking onto the carpet, causing mold to grow. There was even black mold on the walls. When I reported it, I was told it was just a stain and that a cleaner would come by. The leak continued, filling up a bucket with water, and when I called for help, I was told there were more urgent problems to address. I eventually had to involve the City of Ames, and after they got involved, maintenance did the bare minimum. I wasn’t sure what they actually did since I was in class at the time. HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT I wish I could give zero stars, my experience with Haverkamp properties has been a constant headache with terrible service. First they lied about pet fees. I was explicitly told that my pet lizards would not count towards a pet fee because they were in enclosures/tanks. They specifically said that they were "like fish" in tanks and there wasn't a need for a pet fee. Then 6 months before I move out after living with them for 2 and a half years I get a call from Ursula who wanted to start charging me pet rent right before my lease is up. They want to get as much money out of you as they can before you move out. Then they completely mishandled my security deposit, keeping most of it without a valid reason. My repairman Kevin is always polite and quick to respond to maintenance requests. It’s nice that I can always trust him to fix any issue in my apartment.

Installed 2 led lights that are too bright and too white. The old lights used to have a nice warm yellow glow but now it’s too bright and headache inducing. Kevin installed.

Maintenance always does a great job. Kevin installed new lights in my apartment and was respectful, nice, and efficient.
