I am sharing our experience as long-term tenants so prospective renters can make an informed decision. We have lived in a Universal Properties apartment for several years. During that time, we have experienced ongoing maintenance, communication, and management concerns that have significantly impacted our quality of living. Some of the issues we have encountered include: -The unit is outdated and has shown significant signs of wear that have not been meaningfully addressed. The wood floor finish has deteriorated to the point where it peels and feels sticky in areas. There has also been a persistent musty odor in the building. -Window seals appear to be poor, allowing substantial drafts during cold weather. -Four units share a single washer and dryer, which appear to be very old and fr

Where to start? We rented an apartment in the Howard for a year. In that time the we experienced a myriad of nightmares and headaches fueled by UPMs UNPROFESSIONAL and PREDATORY tactics. When we moved in we were led to an apartment covered in construction debris, WITHOUT APPLIANCES or a kitchen sink. When we arrived with our U-Haul the elevator did not work and a pissed off UPM employee told us she had never even been to the building she was managing (we’d been given her card upon move in and told to contact her with issues). We went more than TWO WEEKS without appliances, and longer without a kitchen sink. UPM provided NO SUPPORT OR COMPENSATION. Additionally UPM emailed me another tenants CONFIDENTIAL information including bank account numbers, social security number, salary, and past ad

Moving in was a good experience. Had a couple issues maintenance came right in the same day and fixed it. The employees at universal property Management were nice and on top of things.

Universal Property Management has a contract for our Condo Building and it has been absolutely brilliant since we switched to them a few years ago. It has been a huge improvement over the other individual we deal with. We navigated many much needed improvements due to the age of our building (new roof, entire new air conditioning system, new fence -then damage to our fence!!). Any service issues are responded to quickly. Brendan Phelan always goes above and beyond. They have very good service contracts. I recommend Universal Property Management to any other associations looking for a change.

My Daughter lived here for almost 8 years.it kept changing ownership.my Daughter did everything she was supposed to to take care of the place. And when she gave her notice to move out they said that all she had to do is just clean out the refrigerator and freezer and sweep up don't worry about anything else cuz they're redoing the whole apartment painting and everything. So we cleaned up everything vacuumed make sure there was no garbage out back make sure there's no garbage out front emptied everything. And then when she moved out I was trying to pay the security deposit he sent a list of $1,700 or more to paint the apt. trash had to be removed, and Boards out back.we left it all cleaned and pick up and there was five of us that was there Witness that everything was clean and picked up.we
