If you are Black do not let this company give you an appraisal. My credit union works with this company. My house was appraised less than what it was when I originally purchased 2007. I refinanced 2020. Originally the house had the original bathroom. I updated the whole bathroom 2020 before the appraisal. SAD!!!

My bank ordered an appraisal from Toohey Appraisals for PMI removal on my mortgage. Scheduling was quick an easy. The appraiser Rebecca showed up on time and worked quickly. I had a couple issues with the comps and information on my appraisal. I spoke with the owner Jay and he was happy to review the appraisal and make corrections. He resubmitted to my bank and made everything right. Great customer service. Thank you.

The appraiser insisted on using (low) comparable's from neighboring community properties, often times sold over one year from our appraisal date. He completely ignored home values of properties within view of our own home which were consistently sold at over 10% of the (low) comparable's they insisted on using, and were often sold within a year of our appraisal date. As we all know, the housing market has fluctuated quite a bit over the years, and using a home value from over a year ago when determining the current value of a property just isn't right. I wrote a detailed, multi-paged appeal explaining this, and suggested SEVERAL alternate properties which should also considered rather than weighing properties over a mile from our own so heavily. Do not use this appraisal company! Read the reviews before mine. I wish I knew that my bank was going to use this terrible company, I would’ve urged them not to. They will appraise your home for way less than its value.
