The Whitley House

Roaches live there too. No exterminator. elevator broke 2 weeks every month. laundry room a nightmare. No service. you can hear everything above you and on the side of you. when it does rain they will put sand bags so your roach motel won't flood. fire alarms go off all the time. and they will lie just to steal your deposit. that building and the manager is where your Hollywood dream will go to die.

I moved to Whitley House during the pandemic in June 2020, and I signed my lease before I ever even saw the building or the apartment in person so I took a huge risk in moving here. It's a very small studio apartment, I had a corner unit which gave me an extra window and a window in the bathroom. I completely re-did the apartment; painted the walls, added an area rug, bought new appliances and put up studio foam on the large wall where I had a neighbor on the other side. The apartment isn't luxurious, the building isn't fancy, but if you want to live in a very walkable and accessible area, and you want to live alone, Whitley House is perfect. For how cheap the rent is (for LA), you have laundry on site which isn't the most amazing but it works, and you can create a little space that's all

DO NOT LIVE HERE. Verified toxic mold. Constant water leaks in room and hallway. All my belongings had to be thrown away. I had to take the landlords to court. (And I won!) The apartment was not cleaned before I arrived. Constant smell of urine from dog owners letting pets urinate outside front door. Feels like a prison. The managers just do not care. For the sake of your health and sanity, avoid this place at all cost.

I loved living in this building! Tenants are friendly and chill, and the property manager, Nora is a sweetheart.
