The Social West Ames

My sister just moved to this place and this place is disgusting. I had a very disappointing experience with these apartments. The building is dirty and poorly maintained. As soon as you walk in, there is a strong, unpleasant smell. The hallways are filthy, and the apartment itself was not clean or move-in ready. The unit was disgusting and clearly not properly cleaned before move-in. Communication was also terrible. I was told I would be on the second floor, but on the day of move-in I was placed on the third floor with no warning. I was never allowed to see the apartment before moving in. If I had seen the unit beforehand, I would never have signed the lease. This place does not match what is advertised or promised. I regret signing here and would not recommend these apartments to anyon

I've lived at the social for quite a bit and I am disappointed. I am throwing away SO MUCH MONEY for an apartment building that is poorly maintained, not secure, and nobody cares to clean or maintain anything BUT the leasing office building. The stair stepper never works at the gym, and the laundry room is never cleaned which I have put in a maintenance request and gone to the office myself AND sent the property and email. The request it said it was fixed, so i went to look and it looked the exact same. My apartment building also lacking security and I put in a maintenance request for that in October (it's still not fixed lol). I have other maintenance requests open and we're coming up on month three of nothing being done. There's also a pungent smell from the old carpets in the building.

I was visiting my boyfriend over at the 800 building a couple weeks ago and his kitchen sink stopped working. Water would not come out of the faucet but would come out of the sprayer, that’s it. We put in a maintenance request and had the pleasure of meeting Nate. Nate not only looked at the issue, but he resolved it. My boyfriend and I tried EVERYTHING to get it fixed so the maintenance request was last resort. It was late in the afternoon so we felt bad but he was nothing but smiles & good attitudes. I really hope the rest of the maintenance team is as awesome as he is (which they probably are) I hope everyone gets the chance to have such a rockstar like that to work on there requests. I’ve lived at The Social for over a year, and the experience has been highly disappointing due to poor management, dishonesty, and inadequate maintenance. If you’re thinking about living here, I’d think twice. The maintenance team is unbelievably slow and dishonest. We first submitted a maintenance request on December 14, 2024, because our dishwasher was leaking and making a terrible screeching noise. It wasn’t fixed until January 30, 2025, over six weeks later. When we complained to the office about the delay, maintenance falsely marked the ticket as “resolved” and claimed they had visited and found nothing wrong, even though they had never entered our apartment. I only got it fixed after sending them a video of the dishwasher leaking. Without that, we’d probably still be waiting. When

Staff is friendly and the cost to rent is the best part of the Social. The drawbacks are the other tenants with animals who don’t clean behind their pets. Some of the apartments are dated and haven’t been updated in decades. Some of the amenities are good, while others need improvements. All and all you get what you pay for so at this price I won’t complain too much. Good value for the price. Mid tier quality property.
