The Pines

Nice quiet setting. Caretakers make sure hallways, entrance and recreation area is clean. I have been here over 1.5 yrs and love it. Apartments are a lot larger than any others I've looked at, rent is more than reasonable and love that it has a pool, hot tub and 2 saunas. I have a great quiet view from my patio and sit out her a lot listening to the sounds of nature. Update 7/30/25: Still here in the same apartment and still loving it . Rent has gone up every year but all apartments have because of the inflation the past 5 years. If I have a problem with anything it gets fixed within 24hrs. Hallways, entryway, pool area and the lawns are very well taken care of. I hope to be here for a lot longer.

Just moved to the area and was rejected for a 6 month lease without any clear reason. Even when I offered to pay the entire 6 months up front, just "nope, here's your deposit back.. bye". Sort of cold and hurtful. $40 application fee down the drain. Also, I had a heck of a time getting the money order for my deposit refunded. MidMinnesota Credit Union couldn't take it because they had stamped "Babinski Pines & Estates, LLC." onto the receiver side and then crossed it out. Pequot Post Office didn't have enough cash, Pine River Post Office didn't have enough cash, so I had to go to the Brainerd Post Office and go through a little trouble to have it refunded. My wife rented from Babinskis for 2 years then when we started living together we moved from her 2 bedroom to a 3 bedroom which we lived in together for 5 years until we purchased our home. We never paid rent late or had any complaints from neighbors or interactions with police unlike many other tenants that lived there. There are so many reprehensible things about this company and its staff that I will have to put them in list format. 1. Before I lived there I was visiting and it snowed, when this happens they send out a text message to tenants to notify of plowing times and it is required to get all vehicles off the lot during this time. We had to sign a six month lease to get in and they raised the rent after that lease when we signed our year lease! Who is going to move again after six months?! They changed the method of payment during the winter charging an extra $10.00 fee while in the middle of a legal contract during the winter months when no one can move! During the COVID lock down! They attempted to over charge me for move out expenses when they did not pay for any of the proposed issues when the apartment was not cleaned appropriately before I moved in! This is a horrible place to rent, they will attempt to over charge you every chance they get when there are no expenses out of their pockets! A rip off company! Horrible place to live! Was there 3 years and the noise, police, pot and dog smell was rediculous! There was 3 different property managers while I was there. The only reason I stayed so long is it was the only place that was reasonably priced in Pequot. They pretend to work on cleaning the place up. Now my move in date to my new place was 30 days before my move out date. They knew this and called me 2 weeks before my move out date and asked me if I was coming back to get the rest of my stuff! What?! They have no right to enter MY apartment since I still technically reside there. I still have 2 weeks to finish moving and cleaning. This is just the short story. Misserable, misserable, MISSERABLE place! Would never recommend!
