The Flats at Jackson Square

Lived here for 2 years, and while it wasn’t the worst apartments I’ve ever seen, they weren’t great. Their definition of luxury is apparently cheap vinyl flooring and extremely poor paint jobs with paint drops and cracked paint. The place also has an issue with roaches… bad. And the supposed pest control I was paying for? I saw them twice in two years. Dumpster gets full quickly and finding off-street parking is sometimes an issue at night. Walls are also extremely thin to the point of being able to almost hear your neighbors’ conversations. Obviously that part is no one in particular’s fault - it’s a very old building. Just a couple things to keep in mind. All of this said, staff was always friendly with me in passing and on the phone.

Mona the lady who showed me the room and worked out a plan for me was very friendly and helpful. As I was new to the area only needed a place for a month to stay until I could find a home. My room was modest and small but everything was built to last. Came with the furniture pictured and apart from being next to the back door with people entering and exiting I didn't have many problems with noise. The shower was the best as the pressure was amazing and the temperature was super hot. If you are looking for something with a good price or only need a temporary lease this is a great place.

place keeps raising rent, pics are much better than actual residence. People stole hundreds of dollars worth of mail from me and a tree fell and damaged my car. No accountability from owner , no reimbursement. Apartment ate up with roaches they can't get rid of. Dryer won't work, guy never fixed it. Avoid this place if you can!

I lived in the Flats at Jackson Square for around 5 months, while on a research stay at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. I absolutely loved it. I moved from Europe to Oak Ridge and Cathy, Amy and Chris made the move so easy. The flats are old (from the Manhattan Project) but they are very well maintained by the team. I lived in the furnished apartments and the furniture and appliances are quite new. You can also see that there's frequent maintenance and upgrades to the flats. The gardens are beautiful and the common areas are always very clean. The area is also very safe. Honestly, I couldn't have chosen a better place to live during my stay!

I moved in, in at end of November and feel so safe here. There were bumps at the start with any big move, but Chris, Amy and Cathy have been great! Even when storms were coming Chris came to make sure I knew it and knew how to be safe. It’s the little things that count and they absolutely do that here!
