The Berkshire

We recently moved into the Shipyard community and it has been a mostly wonderful experience so far. Josh at ironstate is a wonderful leasing agent and has helped answer all our questions in a timely manner. Fabian and the whole concierge team at the Sovereign has been so warm and friendly when we pick up packages. The apartment itself is clean, updated and we can’t hear our neighbors at all. Our biggest issue is the maintenance process. It is very hard to get any repairs done and/or get in touch with maintenance staff.

Shipyard resident for 5 years. Started off great then as soon as Ironstate took over as management each year has gotten worse and worse. Poor management of the pool, constant amenity fee increases, completely ruined the Berkshire lobby, and crazy policies, especially in the last year, that push more restrictions without any security or benefit for the tenant. You will not get your security deposit back - I was charged $400 for a carpet stain when they rip up and replace the carpet anyway in between each move. The units are nice and maintenance staff is great, but this management company is the worst I’ve ever had to deal with and they will scam you. Beware and do your research, recommend joining the Facebook group to see all the complaints and issues before signing a lease here

I had an amazing move-in experience! The Ironstate team was incredibly supportive throughout the entire process. Joshua Cordero, the leasing specialist, was instrumental in helping me find the perfect apartment building and unit that matched all my needs. I really appreciated his patience and kindness as I made my final decision. Katherine Avelar, the moving coordinator, truly went above and beyond to ensure a smooth move-in. She was always quick to resolve any third-party issues that arose, putting my mind at ease. Kat is one of a kind and I’m so grateful that she was by my side moving-in. *Note: im not one to write reviews, but my great experience warranted one. Thank you Ironstate team!

I'm shocked to see positive reviews as most people living in the Ironstate/Shipyard Complex have endless negative feedback. For high amenity fees, you see very little upgrades to these dated facilities. After 5 years of being great tenants they took away $400 of our security deposit for "carpet damage" when they rip up the carpets between tenants anyways (did it write in front of me at our final walk-through). Charged the same to friends of ours after their moveout so god forbid you spill any liquid on your carpet during your lease, expect that cost a minimum of $400 even if you clean the stain. Monthly pet fees, expensive parking, broken elevators and garage doors, don't get me started on the HIDEOUS Berkshire lobby renovation that inconvenienced residents for months to look like a child

Tony and Vee were amazing and quickly addressed issues we had with an ac unit. They were thorough, listened to the problems we were having and came back with a replacement as a solution in record time. We are so grateful for them and their hard work!
