Please read if you are considering renting here due to the reasonable rent & locations. I lived in Boone for 5 years and understand with housing, you take what you can get at the right price. I'm not here to bash Sofield or tell you not to rent with them, because sometimes you have no choice. I'm here to provide an objective-ish summary of my bad experience with them to prepare potential renters. Firstly, document everything major or minor wrong with the place and be timely with maintenance requests. Make sure you submit the move-in inspection to protect yourself, because its likely the place wont be in great conditions when you move in. Second, if you live at Bloomfield like I did, get a big ol' dehumidifier, because there is a serious mold problem that will affect all of your belongings

Yeah I would really pay attention to these reviews. This is absolutely the worst place to rent from in Boone and probably the surround towns too. They will overcharge you for anything, throw random violations on you, and are overall greedy people looking to take advantage of college students. Couch hopping is likely a better option than rent from sofield. 0% chance of getting your deposit back even if you left the rental in better condition than when you moved in. Stay away at all cost.

RENTER BEWARE. Please read the negative reviews before renting from this company! Sofield is the greediest company in town and will make up false charges so not only do you not get a security deposit back, they charge you for false damages. Take pictures of EVERYTHING before moving in!

The folks at Sofield Properties were wonderful throughout my 3 years renting from them. They were quick to address maintenance requests, treating them with urgency. They were also always so pleasant in our communications! I would recommend them to everyone!

I lived in a one bedroom unit at the Bloomfield Apartments for 2.5 years and loved it. It was spacious, clean, and cozy for the price. The complex is mostly "young professionals," so it's quiet. It's also pet-friendly. The only cons were 1) The steep driveway along a blind curve on 321, and 2) The annual unit inspections, which I felt were a bit intrusive (However, I understand why they were done). In my opinion, Sofield is the best rental company in Boone. Despite the Google ratings, they have a good reputation. My first landlord (Deena) was exceptional and my most recent landlord (Autumn) was great too. Maintenance was quick to fix issues.
