Terrible property management. Sam Kobata Smiles and nods at your face then doesn’t follow through with what was promised. After living at 36 Hobby Pleasantville for nearly seven months and repeatedly asking Him for repairs of exterior security lights and to check the smoke detector and CO monitor, a friend with MS leaving our apt at night tripped on the unlit step in the walkway and tore up her knee. She should have sued Shoen, but she’s actually a decent human being. At that point we called the building dept and they came out right away and were horrified. The CO monitors were non-functioning, the smoke-detectors were non-functioning. And the grass was almost too tall. The property manager had the correct monitors installed a week later. Sam Kobata and Shoen Realty are a joke. We rented a beautiful house from Sam in Tuckahoe. The day we moved in we noticed the cable outlet wasn’t working. Sam refused to fix it, told us we could hire an electrician (on a high priced rental unit)at our expense, and he was fine with having the techs drills holes into the building but refused to have it fixed properly. The unit was INFESTED in silverfish. They were everywhere, all the time. We could catch more than 1 daily as well as tiny little newly hatched ones. When we mentioned this to Sam, he said that pests are our responsibility, even though this was a building issue related to moisture. When we found mice on our lower level, where all the bedrooms are, he again told us it was our problem, even though there were multiple areas of the
