We DID NOT find them to be military friendly at all! We were warned by several other service members about renting from Preferred Property upon moving to Hermiston. There were no other rentals available that we could find, however, so we ended up renting from them. Positives: they did follow up on repairs in a timely manner and one of the ladies who worked at the front desk was courteous. As we had been warned and expected, in our opinion, they were dishonest upon move out in regards to our deposit. What a hassle that we are thankful to not ordinarily have to deal with as an Army family! I would never recommend renting from them! Just as a point of reference, I am including a photo. I regret taking the advice from the town of Hermiston, Oregon, to avoid renting from Preferred Properties. I rented from them for three years without any late payments or complaints, only to move out of a unit left completely empty and be charged two separate full-service cleaning fees. During a meeting with the property manager, I was told the cleaning company they hired did a poor job, leading to the company firing them and cleaning the unit themselves. Despite this, I was still charged for the original cleaning company’s full fee as well as their own cleaning costs totaling to over $1000! Additionally, I was charged for lawn care even though the backyard was filled with a 2-inch layer of dog waste when I first moved in—waste I had to clean myself. We took great care of our apartment and cleaned it very thoroughly before moving out. We did a walk through before handing the keys and the only thing that the employee pointed out that needed more cleaning was that there was dust in the air conditioning unit and that we didn’t sweep behind the refrigerator and behind the oven. Also the refrigerator door wouldn’t close all the way the whole time we lived there and we contacted preferred property 3 times and each time they would just say it was fixed and it really wasn’t. Anyways back to the cleaning fee, they charged us $552 for the cleaning fee at 65$ and hour. The lady even made a comment saying it shouldn’t take long to clean than proceeds to charge us for 8.5 hours of work. There is no way that it took more than an hour to clean behind

They changed the locks on us without giving proper notice for eviction date. Their apartments are also infested with roaches and if you tell them there is roaches then they say you’re the one who brought them. 10/10 don’t recommend renting with these greedy people.

Would not recommend. Make sure you record every conversation, or ask to see any notes written on your account. They will fabricate a reason to ring you for more money. Making me pay for an empty parking spot after acknowledging that I called to set up the removal, but denying I set up the cancelation. Why would I want to keep paying for an empty parking spot? Make it make sense.
