I had to sell my Mom's old house while living 1600 miles away. The house was a mess, as the prior occupants (my ailing sisters) were physically and financially unable keep up with repairs and upkeep of the house. I "interviewed" three realtors via email, telling them that I usually spent a lot of money fixing my previous houses before selling them, and I told them I wasn't sure if that was the best approach. I asked them to look at the house, and tell me what I should I do to my Mom's old house to get it ready to market.
