Oakwood at Toluca Hills Apartments by Avalon

It's a nice Place to be. My stay was about 8 weeks. Working in L A . Quiet. The Pool is great the Apartment's are okay, but not up to day. BBQ, Fitness and Billard possible.

Apparently the Pixies lived here with their producer Gil Norton while recording 1990's Bossanova. Pretty cool!

I lived at this complex from March 1988 through March 1989, while attending Musicians Institute down the road in Hollywood. At the time, I paid $700/month rent for my efficiency apartment, and I thought that was really steep. But, the location was so perfect for me, it was worth it. Fun story...I went to the laundry room one evening, and I saw Brad Gillis (guitarist from Night Ranger) putting his clothes in the washer. We talked for a few minutes, and he mentioned that the band was in town recording, and that everyone in the band was staying at the complex for the duration. Came back later to pick up my clothes, and Jeff Watson (the other guitarist from Night Ranger) was sitting there on top of a washer with a guitar, waiting for his clothes to dry. Lived there in '88-'89 and loved the location, Studios down the street, Hollywood Hills nearby, we even climb to the Hollywood sign and took pictures standing in the O which you can't do now. Ran into Eric Estrada several times at the store and laundry room. Good times while the job we were doing in Burbank was completed. Saw Dawn Wells, Rita Coolidge, Jamie Farr, and Bob Hope when Barbra Edens received her star on the Walk of Fame.
