New Kent Apartments

We stopped by and received a tour with Sonia. What a sweet, attentive, respectful girl. She showed us around the clubhouse and two apartments. During our tour we noticed how clean the property looked and how well the community was being handled with the snow and ice. Sonia was knowledgeable and personal. By far the nicest and most professional tour we have experienced through our process of looking. Other communities don't compare to New Kent Apartments. We are excited to move into New Kent Apartments.

My stay in the apartment was acceptable, but when leaving my wife and I were hit with a bill for over $1,000 to replace the entire carpet in the apartment because of 3 very small stains; the pictures sent were very close up to even make them visible. When asked, management explained that they think small stains are not normal wear and tear so they just *had* to replace the carpet in the entire apartment on our dime. If you're considering this apartment, be prepared for huge surprise bill when you move out to pay for their renovations.

We lived in the unit for three years, and while it was not perfect, it served its purpose. However, the real issue came after we moved out. In addition to paying a two-month lease break fee totaling $4,500 (which we paid), we were also charged over $1,000 for carpet replacement. After three years of daily living, some stains are unavoidable, and it’s unreasonable to expect tenants to leave carpet in like-new condition. A professional property management company should also reasonably expect carpet replacement to be part of standard turnover maintenance following a multi-year lease. Charging outgoing tenants for what is standard turnover maintenance feels like a convenient way to shift routine costs onto renters, especially after already collecting a substantial lease break fee. The smoke detector was going off in the stairwell at my building. I think I hoped somebody else would contact maintenance but nobody did so at day five after nearly losing my mind hearing that thing chirp, I contacted maintenance. By the time I got home the next day from work it was already taken care of. They've always been right on top of it. Any time I need something they take care of it right away. I truly appreciate it and thank them for their time.

’ve lived here for about a year. The staff are all friendly and nice. My neighbors are nice as well; however, the person who parks near me doesn’t know how to park. I love the apartment, but there are some cons. There are so many bugs in the room during the summer (first floor), and the pest control doesn’t seem to work. Also, my unit was in the older part of the community, so things would often break. However, they fix issues very quickly—usually within one business day. The water and sewage bill are a bit pricey, but they do have Verizon FIOS for internet. The location of this community is pretty great. This is the best apartment I’ve ever stayed in. Thanks for the best year of my life!
