My husband and I are so thankful that a friend referred Dexter Rakes to us when we began looking for a house at Smith Mountain Lake. We were coming from out of state so our time to house hunt was limited and Dexter was extremely accommodating to our schedule. He spent several long days with us as we looked for the perfect home and when we finally decided to make an offer he was helpful in walking us through the process. He is very conscientious, kind and an all around great guy! We truly enjoyed working with him and would highly recommend him to anyone looking to buy or sell in the area.

We loved having Ricky as our realtor. He not only helped us sell our house using a variety of marketing techniques, but also helped us find our new home. We previously had listed our home with other realtors over the years with no success, but when we listed with Lake & Land Realty, we had an offer in no time, and we owe that to Ricky. We began our search for a house on the lake at Lake Anna in August of 2020. We reached out to a real estate agent and found a house to put an offer on but she didn’t seem interested in helping us, was very slow to respond, and even a bit rude. I was nervous calling a realtor for a vacation rental - I've never done that before and knew nothing about the process. Daniel Scott was wonderful and made the process easy and enjoyable. We rented the Hummingbird Cottage and had a fantastic time. The decor was very tasteful yet also comfortable. The setting was beautiful - quiet, calm cove, shade and beautiful trees, birds (we did see a hummingbird, green herons, blue herons...), fish jumping, and little skinks with bright blue tails. There is a marina within paddling distance (or if you need to put your boat in). There is a steep slope from the cottage to the dock (so keep this in mind if you have health issues) but the owners have terraced a walkway leading to the steps which makes it easier.
