Matawan Village Apartments

The Superintendent has something against women. I was told that there was nothing he could do and its not his job to remove the snow that enclosed my vehicle due to the haphazard plow job that was done. Was lied to that the team would be back in 20 to 30 min to remove the snow that enclosed multiple vehicles. The team never returned and this was stated in font of multiple tenants. My vehicle was enclosed the worst out of all the other cars. It took me over and hour to dig myself out of a place where I pay rent. There is never a sense of urgency to fix anything that has been done haphazardly. Im still waiting to get my bathroom fixed and its been 2 yrs. It's like living in the projects without the rats and roaches.

Don’t move here. They will never complete your maintenance request no matter how many times you submit it through the portal, no one will contact you. Gave notice that I will be vacating the property through the portal and STILL no one has contacted me. The apartment is not worth the cost of the rent. With the cost of rent being as high as it is here you think there would be better communication.

The only positive thing about this apartment complex is its location. The place was fine until new management took over. While they’ve made some improvements to the exterior, the experience with the management team was terrible. The office staff are rude and treat tenants like second-class citizens, constantly threatening eviction over trivial issues. This created a very stressful and unpleasant environment. The apartments themselves are old, and while they’ve been renovating and adding washer/dryer units, it turned into a nightmare for tenants on the first floor (like myself). Every time my upstairs neighbor did laundry, my entire apartment would shake for about 45 minutes. It felt like a constant vibration throughout the whole place. 26 Calendar days from my online service request of pulling teeth and making multiple calls a week to get the AC unit in my apartment fixed/replaced. The only 2 reasons this isn't a 1 star review is because Tania was respectful/professional (No one else I spoke to was) and I finally got the replacement. To top it off, instead of replacing the dedicated wall outlet intended for the prior AC unit (20 amp/240 volt), the superintendent just unplugged my power strip to use a different outlet. Hopefully this isn't how new management plans to continue to treat their tenants moving forward.

I've lived here for the past 2 years. It's my first apartment and I've had a great experience. The super is very nice and responds immediately to any questions or concerns I have. The one bedroom unit im in is beautifully remodeled and spacious for me. The community here is very nice and quiet. I couldn't ask for more honestly. Glad I found this place. The location is also convenient since it's close to the train station and right near a parkway exit.
