Called J&J as I have been living as an occupant in one of their rentals for a majority of my life. I explained that I was calling on behalf of the lease owners (the people I lived with) and that I was trying to cover the rent for the month. I was inquiring on how I could do so. The lady who answered the phone rudely inquired “WELL WHY CANT THEY PAY THE RENT? WHY IS IT COMING OUT OF YOUR ACCOUNT?” Which are completely inappropriate and unprofessional questions to ask your tenants. I did my best to remain polite throughout this conversation by responding and explaining that it is a personal matter, and I was just trying to see how I could aid the situation. The lady again yelling and condescendingly asking “WHY CANT THEY CALL OR COME IN AND TALK??? THEY CAN SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES.” Just again,

Do NOT waste your time at J and J Real estate. They berate their tenants and are shockingly rude.. Disgusting people! Find somewhere else, please. They will treat you like a dog for as long as you stay in one of their rental homes.

I went to j and j today after my mother had passed yesterday as she has been renting from these people for over 30 years !! When I went in I tried to explain that I am the renters daughter and had asked for a little time to get my mothers stuff out of the house that she had been renting from them for over 30 years. I had moved in to help take care of my mother as she was dying of stage 4 lung cancer . The older lady showed no sympathy and told me they would be changing the locks on the house tomorrow morning and that we were not on the lease . Mind you my mother needed help as she was dying so I moved in to take care of her . The lady showed zero sympathy and compassion and said well we’re changing the locks tomorrow and you have no right to be there . These people are absolutely heartless

absolutely would not recommend this company. they are super unprofessional. they are rude, abrasive, and speak about their tenants in a derogatory way. do NOT waste your time trying to get any services from here, FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE.

The older lady who processes applications is unprofessional/gives attitude on the phone. It took two trips after several weeks to finally get an answer on my application. People deserve timely responses, and respect. I watched her offer to take my application back because she was too lazy to do her job. That was a 1.5 weeks after I applied. I’d imagine it’s better once you’re a tenant. Culpeper is not the easiest city to rent in.
