Jefferson West Apartments

Would not return my deposit even though i left the apartment in good condition and clean. Even had pictures. They kept over $800… would not even talk to me except they said I left it very dirty. Again i have pictures and a video showing it clean….

The apartment I live in is striking and was perfect upon move in. The area is close to shopping but feels secluded due to how the property is situated and the trees that surround it. The neighborhood is quiet. There is a picturesque pool for tenants to enjoy in the summer. The maintenance team is prompt to address any issues in an extremely professional manner. As soon as I submit a work order, a member of the maintenance team responds. I have had no major maintenance issues, just very few small ones over a four year time period. I have never rented from a company that keeps up on maintenance to the level Jefferson West does. The staff truly cares about tenants and creates a sense of community. My husband and I have rented an apartment at Jefferson West for the past 3 years. We have enjoyed living there and recommended them many times. We paid everything on time and loved how timely the maintenance crew arrived when things needed to be fixed. We recently bought a home, and paid to end our lease at the end of March instead of May. This included paying March's rent ($450), an early release fee ($655), and forfeiting our deposit. Our lease for the apartment is supposed to end March 31. My husband received a phone call last Tuesday to inform him we still had things in the refrigerator. He told them we would try to come by that day or the next to get the items, but we ended up not having time. Since we have the apartment until the 31st, that should be no biggie. If there was a way to rate lower that one star I would do it. I lived here for four and a half years. Rent was paid well before the due date with one exception and almost always in cash. However the quality of the apartments is not great for the yearly increasing rent that was expected. The apartment I stayed in was one of their "remodeled" units, but before moving in there was already a lot of wear and tear to the place. The heating and air conditioning consistently had issues and several leaks that had formed in the upstairs apartment that leaked through the ceiling causing rot odors and black mold. the noise dampening between apartments was also nearly non-existent. I lived here for 10 months. In the winter my apartment was constantly freezing even with my hest set over 75. When the summer came I couldn't get my apartment to cool down so I called maintenance. Turns out the vents in the bedrooms were fake, they didn't connect to anything. There was no central heating or air, they openly admitted to that. My fridge ran constantly and never shut off, the floors were so thin I could hear my downstairs neighbor having conversations all the time. I used a fan and it made his whole apartment buzz so i couldn't use it anymore. When his hest turned on all my bedroom walls shook. This is the worst apartment I have ever lived in. Looks can be deceiving.
