JaCo Home Inspections

My wife and I were referred to Jaco inspections by multiple people. We used him in buying our first ever home. He passed our house with no problem but clearly he didn’t even look at anything he should have. Within a month of moving into our home, floor joists started breaking and the floor started sagging more and more, make it extremely dangerous for us and our children to even be inside the home. We called out a contractor to try and fix the foundation and when he cut the floor up we were all in disbelief. We have had several companies out and each one has said the home should never have passed inspection and that we need to sue. I don’t know how the house was still standing honestly. James did an incredible job on my home inspection. He was available at the soonest that the sellers would allow and his price was absolutely reasonable for the thorough inspection he provides. There is a full writeup with pictures included to make the mortgage underwriter and the appraisers feel more comfortable. You would be doing yourself a disservice if you went with any other home inspector.

I was told I should replace my cooling system just 5 days after the inspection (several opinions). I specifically asked Mr. Starkweather about the cooling system as it seemed to be pretty old. He stated that is had plenty of life left in it. This cost me over 6000.00. He also failed to note the rather big crack going up the wall in the hall closet. Had I known about he cooling system, I would have passed on this house. I was too busy to have filed an official complaint for damages within the contracted 10 days so I asked for him to at least refund me the fee for the failed inspection and he refused.
