Elmhurst Place Apartments

The location is this apartment’s only redeeming quality. The management is very out of touch and antiquated. The price point was ok, but they will try to increase the rent on you after a year of living there then charge a new resident the same rent that you paid. I would not recommend living there longer than a year. You have to pay rent by check which indicates this establishment may be having cash flow problems or does not understand what a computer can do. Actually getting a tour of an apartment is like pulling teeth. You will probably have to call Linda several times who will not be straight forward about what units are available. We lived here for a year and only left because we were driven out of the state by the lockdowns. We absolutely loved living here and still think of it fondly. The location is fantastic, The building was nice, attractive, and clean. The apartment was quiet and cozy. The staff is extremely friendly, personable, and helpful. If we were to ever consider living in Illinois again we wouldn't hesitate to make this our home again.

It's definitely weird trying to see any units in this place. You basically have to lie and tell them your (fabricated) move-in date and what you are looking for. I knew I needed an apartment several months in the future and I really just wanted to know if I should put this joint on my radar for when we actually were looking. The first time I called, Linda told me that she couldn't show me anything if I didn't know exactly when I was moving and exactly the size apartment I wanted. So I guess one factor is that they do not have any model units like many other complexes have. But they wouldn't even show any empty-but-in-the-process-of-being-turned-over units. I am a current resident and love the building. The staff goes above and beyond. The residents are extremely friendly, and range in age from 20’s and 30’s to older (70’s-80’s). It is kept spotless. It is quiet. My neighbors across hall have people over and I hear nothing. Occasionally I hear my neighbor above me on his treadmill but that is not disturbing! The ONLY thing I would change is offer some apartments with cushioned wood laminate floors! But great location!

Management is hopeless. I have been trying to get a security deposit check back from them for over 3 months and all I get are excuses from Linda every single time. They dodge the issue and claim that the owner has a stack of over 20 checks he has yet to sign leading me to wonder why that’s the case for the other former tenants facing the same issue. They were also quite short with my own mother who was calmly trying to get some clarity on the situation as well. They are as out of date with any form of quick communication technology as possible. Look somewhere else. There’s a lot of other awesome places right there in Elmhurst so please do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY FROM ELMHURST PLACE OR ELMHURST POINTE
