Elk's Apartments

THIS PLACE SUCKS! fire alarm went off at 3 am, trashy backyard , lies on listings and lease, no secured entrance. BULLSHIT!! i will be suing you

This apartment building is a disaster. Management is rude, confused and clearly incompetent. I was given the door code and access to the building before leasing (thank god because they are renting these through sight unseen “virtual tours” to trick people into living here). Walking in there is an immense odor of mold and cockroach droppings. The laundry room was so poorly maintained that it clearly CAUGHT FIRE (see pictures of the disaster here). There are holes in the walls everywhere, including one I saw that led directly into someone’s apartment. The carpet seems like it’s NEVER been vacuumed. Whole building has poor ventilation and paper thin walls. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Worst apartment I've stayed in unfortunately. The elevator is down for months at a time, despite disabled people living on top floors. Elevator bills are left unpaid so it gets shut down I've been told, and then they blame it on the tenants tampering with it. There was mold in my shower and horrendous damage that was painted over. After about a month the shower ceiling started falling off while I was showering due to the moisture, called maintenance and put in my 1 months notice for moveout. The worst experience I had here was a hostage situation downstairs on Christmas morning: a woman was being held at gunpoint while screaming that a drug dealer was going to kill her. Heard his gun fire and called 911. Constant houseless population using drugs in the alley where the dumpsters are, so

I have read these reviews and I want to speak to what was said about management. The manager for these apartments is absolutely wonderful . And has treated me with nothing but the most respect and sensitivity. Also the maintenance here is always quick to answer calls and very efficient. I love my apartment and I am grateful for it.

I just moved in and IDK why some folks have such issues/bad reviews. This is one of the better places to rent downtown. The only issue is finding parking. The building is old but management has done a great job renovation and updating the apartments. I've never been happier to call a place home, friendly staff and neighbors make this experience so much better.
